Living in Pakistan, what is the one thing that you have to experience almost frequently? The whole extended family dropping by to meet and mingle. Add to that the get together with friends from time to time and your house basically ends up seeing a lot of guests. Some people like the idea of formal dining room settings but a lot of us are the kind of people who are more inclined towards informal and loud gatherings with little inhibitions.
Outdoor entertainment areas are a must for such a family. There are many reasons for that. An outdoor area will not only seem charming, but it will also be fun and lesser mess to clean at the end of the day. Many relatives and friends come bearing kids, who as we all know can become a handful and in a formal setting, people are seen mostly prying their kids away from causing expensive damages. So, all in all, an informal outdoor setting favors everyone who is involved.
Now comes the question of creating such a setup. Firstly, you need to evaluate the size of the outdoor space that you have. Is it enough to have a well-ventilated and safe BBQ? Is it huge enough to have a small bonfire? Or is it just barely enough for a cozy and rustic swing and a few chairs? Another important factor is to think of the number of people that you entertain on the most frequent basis. If you host mostly friends that are let's say 10 in number, then that is your ballpark and you need to think accordingly.
Now you need to think of how to set this place up with the most minimum expense. The best thing is that for such a setup you might be able to grab materials that you already have lying at home. You could refurbish old table and chairs for a sitting area which can be used for games and to eat as well. You can also make a BBQ pit from scratch use bricks and cement lying around in most home from previous renovations.
The main idea is to have a space that makes you feel cozy and homey and also helps you in having a good time with your friends and family without planning elaborate setups inside your house. The last important element is to secure the place from being ruined by rains or strong winds especially during our ever famous monsoon season. For the rest, you are good to go.
