A house should not only look beautiful from outside but it’s the material that should also be durable. In real estate, the increase in property value depends upon certain factors that influence its rate. One of such factors is the build quality of a property.

During past 5 to 10 years, an increasing number of houses are being constructed with such building blocks which are not only eco-friendly but durable as well. They can withstand any climate change and significantly increase the value of a house.

There are four building materials to consider when constructing a new house.

1-  Insulated concrete blocks

Insulated concrete blocks were first introduced in Europe in the 1960s. Made up of polystyrene or polyurethane, the concrete blocks are light in weight and easy to stack. Being eco-friendly, they provide thermal protection as well. Houses in which these building blocks are used are cooler during the summer and warmer during winter. Insulate concrete block helps in increasing a property’s value by 15%.

2-  Autoclaved Aerated concrete

These building blocks are available in the form of slabs and blocks. It is a building material that contains air pockets within the concrete and this makes it 30 to 40% lighter than regular concrete. It is resistant to fire and also provides thermal protection and sound insulation.

3-  Straw bales

This particular building material has been used for centuries to create roofs and building walls. Covered with cement, straw bales make sturdy building material. It can also be used to create partitions within houses. Their presence can increase the property’s value by 10 to 12%.

4-  Green blocks

Made of concrete and covered with a plant-based slide, these building blocks are mostly used on the facades of houses. They are durable, eco-friendly and require less maintenance in terms of their cost. They are excellent insulators and keep homes warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Houses made of such material have an increased property value.
